The funny thing is, I don’t remember the book at all
In the eternal city of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family must come to terms with love, oblivion, and the inevitability of their past and their fate. This is Netflix’s most expensive Latin American project to date, with Colombian groups and indigenous communities building props and sets for the series.
Let its fantastical story wrap you in a cloak of beggary
Sure, it was terrifying, but then again, the author is very poetic when it comes to mentioning ancient curses and such… or tragic love, human nature… It all comes from a master of the genre. I got carried away by most of it, not in the first episode, but it intrigued me there and I hope you let the alchemy/magic happen like I did.
Like Game of Thrones fever
It’s about history and memory, how unreliable and confusing they are and what we do with them. I feel like rereading the novel right now!
A sad but beautiful one
The difference is that I can’t read the original, only a translation. It’s not a Dickensian Christmas tale for children, but it is a tale for adults.
